We carry a wide range of aluminium busbar. Most standard products are available from stock and bespoke products within the scope of our manufacturing the range can be made available on short lead times.
Aluminium Busbars - Specs
Materials can be supplied in 6063 (HE9), 6060, 6082 (HE30), 6005, 6101, 2011, 2014 (HE15), 7075, E1E & E91E in either fully tempered or annealed conditions.
Aluminium bars
When compared to a copper bar with the same cross-section there is a significant weight saving, up to 70% less, with an ampacity reduction of about30%. (Significant cost saving advantages due to the different cost of the raw material and, especially, the great difference in the weight/volume ratio.)
Aluminium type EN-AW 1350 A with rounded corners
Tensile strength:80 N/mm²
Resistivity: 0.0286 mm2/m
Density: 2.7kg/dm³.
Properties
Aluminium Busbar Specifications Pure aluminium has a conductivity of about 65% IACS Alloy 6101. This heat treatable wrought alloy is recognized internationally as providing the optimum combination of strength and electrical conductivity for busbars. Temper T6. This is solution heat treated and artificially aged to maximum mechanical property levels.
Conductor Material
Aluminium (grade 6101) has 57% of the conductivity of copper. Therefore, the cross-sectional area of these aluminium busbars should be around63% greater than copper for the same current rating in the same circumstances.
The decisions leading to the choice of the material would have been influenced by the availability of the raw material and its cost, rather by the physical properties of the respective materials.
In conjunction with this, we are able to offer bespoke profiles for dedicated applications and we would welcome the opportunity to quote you against any requirements that you may have.
